Distributor spotlight: Fusion CADSoft – New CADSTAR reseller for North America

We recently welcomed Fusion CADSoft as a new reseller for CADSTAR in North America (see press release here). Last week I caught up with CEO, Rich Leodore, to find out more about the company and how CADSTAR fits with their experience.

Give us a picture of Fusion CADSoft and its people.

Fusion CADSoft was started several years ago by me and two other former semiconductor sales representatives; all of us electronic engineers with design experience from early in our careers. We bring expertise not only to the software side of the business, but also an understanding of the content side of the design cycle and how to bring these designs to market. Having been in the same position as many of our customers we understand their bottom line.

What’s your background?

I’ve been in the electronics industry for more than 30 years. During this time I’ve had experience in the hybrid, semiconductor and EDA markets. I’ve also been involved with several start-ups, including running my own company designing and manufacturing devices for military companies.

How does CADSTAR fit with your company?

CADSTAR fits perfectly with the markets we serve and takes advantage of our semiconductor background. We’re based in Florida and have exposure to a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on military, white goods and automotive. A few years ago, we introduced Zuken’s E3.series to the aerospace industry in Florida and it’s been very well recieved.

So why CADSTAR?

CADSTAR is a proven tool with local support in the US, it’s technically stable and developed continuously. Also, because we’ve already worked with Zuken for several years distributing E3.series we know that Zuken does business with high integrity, which makes it easy for us to promote CADSTAR with the confidence that our customers will be happy.

What gets your customers excited?

Our customer base appreciates the various levels of software packages offered by CADSTAR. This means they can select a package which meets their design needs and budget constraints without needing to buy functionality they will never need. It also allows those just getting started in the business (such as college graduates) to familiarize themselves with design layout using the free CADSTAR Express download. These are options that you can’t find elsewhere in the industry.

What is your sales territory?

We have a sales team of three that covers the Midwest and Southeastern states of the United States. I look after Northeast states, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota; Dana Webb spans Florida, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia; and Jeff Shaner covers the Dixie States.
